The first and most important use of expanded polystyrene in buildings - EPS for short - is its use as thermal insulation in both new buildings and, in the process of restructuring. Because of its efficacy as an insulating material, the EPS plays a precious role: it contributes to the saving of fossil fuels used for heating and reduces the carbon dioxide emissions that contribute to the creation of the greenhouse effect.
Considering the above, are evident the advantages from the use of boxes for rolling shutters and blinds Edilcass.
The profile of expanded polystyrene for boxes is obtained with the expansion in facilities that produce bars of 6 m, and then to obtain finished boxes, bars are cut to size and equipped with every accessory for maneuver.
Some believe in the simple equation natural =ecological. Nothing could be further from the truth. There are natural products harmful to humans and the environment (the radon content of the volcanic tuff, asbestos, etc.) and harmless synthetic products like polystyrene foam. The EPS, in fact, is non-toxic, contains no CFCs or HCFCs and is 100% recyclable. A lot of research use EPS as a model for its environmental cost / performance ratio.
Moreover, its use saves much more energy than its production consumes. Also used as packing, lowers energy consumption, because, being composed of 98% air, does not affect the weight of the goods transported.
Edilcass is part of AIPE - Italian Polystyrene Foam Association.
It is a non-profit association formed in 1984 to protect and promote the image of quality expanded polystyrene (EPS) and to develop the use.
